In this role, you will be an integral part of our North American Health & Life Sciences Advisory Team and report to the regional team lead based in Boston. You will coordinate strategic initiatives within Global Public Affairs (GPA) and Economic Diplomacy, supporting Danish companies in the U.S.
About the job
Based at the Embassy of Denmark in Washington, D.C., you will work in a dynamic environment supporting Danish life sciences companies in navigating the U.S. landscape. Your primary role will be to facilitate and coordinate GPA initiatives while contributing to broader efforts within economic diplomacy, with an exclusive focus on the health and life sciences sector.
Key responsibilities
- Leading the planning and execution of events, workshops, and high-level delegations in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Driving and coordinating GPA initiatives, strategic projects, and collaboration activities in Washington, D.C., including identifying and developing new opportunities for cross Atlantic collaboration
- Developing, analyzing, and presenting market intelligence and policy insights to Danish companies and institutions
- Monitoring and assessing U.S. policy and regulatory developments within the life sciences sector, translating insights into actionable guidance
- Building and maintaining a strong network across companies, interest associations, think tanks and academic institutions, and other key stakeholders in the U.S. and Denmark
- Delivering on commercial objectives, including activity and revenue targets
Required qualifications
- Relevant academic background and some experience (e.g. internships or 1–2 years) within the health and life sciences sector, in either the U.S. or Denmark (e.g. government, consultancy, or industry)
- A proactive and positive approach, with the ability to manage several tasks at once and work effectively under time pressure
- A strong sense of ownership and willingness to take initiative, both independently and as part of a team
- A Curious and analytical mindset, with an interest learning about the the health and life sciences sector
- An interest in working with Danish companies and contributing to their engagements in the U.S.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear, structured, and high-quality written material
Employment conditions
- You will locally be a part of our economic diplomacy efforts at the Embassy in DC, but you will report to our North American Energy health & life sciences team leader.
- The advisor will have activity and value targets that should be achieved through direct collaborations with Danish health & life science companies
- Full time employment for 3 years with the possibility of extension on a local contract based on the local Embassy Staff Rules.
- You will be employed with an average workweek of 37 hours, but you are employed without an upper working hours’ limit. This implies that you must work more than 37 hours a week if your work so requires without receiving compensation for overtime. Compensation for no upper working hours is 12% of your basic salary.
- You will be entitled to 25 days of paid vacation per year.
- Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
- You will be offered a local health insurance with insurance premium partly covered with 20% coverage of premium for the employee. Coverage of family members depends on children’s age and spouse income.
- You are offered 8% of your salary for a pension scheme of your own choice
- Benefits and other conditions will be based on the Embassy’s Staff Rules.
- The basic gross monthly salary for the position and a candidate with relevant qualifications and relevant work experience – for an employee subject to US income taxation – is USD 4585. For a tax-exempt employee (tax exemption depending on US visa status and citizenship) the monthly net salary will be USD 3805. Basic salary is subject to change if the candidate does not have the needed qualifications for the position. On top of the basic salary, there will be an additional allowance of 12% for the no upper working hours’ limit. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience an additional individual allowance may be added.
