Position: Commercial Advisor, Energy
Type of employment: Full time employment for 3 years on a local contract

Based at the Consulate General of Denmark in Houston, you will play a key role in supporting Danish companies as they establish partnerships, identify new business opportunities and strengthen their presence across North America. Working closely with leading companies, investors, public authorities and other industry stakeholders, you will contribute to projects within Danish strongholds of the broader energy transition—including renewable energy, electrification, energy infrastructure and the rapidly growing data centre ecosystem, where reliable and sustainable energy solutions are becoming increasingly critical.

Most projects will focus on business development, strategic advisory and public affairs, leveraging the Trade Council's strong and expanding network throughout North America.

Main tasks and responsibilities
•    Support and expand the Trade Council's network of energy stakeholders in Texas and other relevant states, including stakeholders engaged in large-scale energy infrastructure and data centre investments.
•    Conduct outreach and establish relationships to Danish companies and connect them with market opportunities by providing market intelligence, stakeholder engagement and strategic project support.
•    Develop and present go-to-market strategies and business development initiatives tailored to the North American energy market.
•    Engage with key stakeholders across the North American and Danish energy value chains, including developers, utilities, investors, technology providers and public authorities.
•    Plan and execute high-impact events, business delegations and networking activities that strengthen the North American energy network and support Danish companies.
•    Contribute actively to the Trade Council's regional cooperation across North America.

To succeed in this job
•    You have a solid understanding of commercial and technical energy solutions and experience working at the intersection of business, technology and public-private collaboration within the energy sector.
•    You are skilled at building trusted relationships with Danish and North American companies, investors and public authorities, and you actively leverage your professional network to create business opportunities.
•    You have knowledge of North American energy policy and market developments, particularly within the growing demand for energy infrastructure supporting data centres. Other relevant areas include electrification, hydrogen, battery energy storage (BESS) and biomass.
•    You are an experienced project manager with excellent coordination and organizational skills.
•    You are able to work independently, deliver high-quality projects and thrive in a collaborative, international team environment.
•    You are commercially minded, results-oriented and motivated by facilitating investments, partnerships and long-term business development.

Required qualifications
•    Bachelor's degree (minimum) in engineering, business, economics, political science or another relevant discipline.
•    Relevant professional experience within the energy sector.
•    Experience with project development, strategic consulting, business development and/or sales.
•    Excellent written and spoken English. Danish language skills are an advantage but are not required.
•    Strong commercial understanding of the Danish and/or North American energy sector.
•    Proven ability to build strong relationships with Danish and North American companies, investors and public authorities.

Employment conditions
•    You will be employed locally as Commercial Advisor or Senior Commercial Advisor by the Consulate General of Denmark in Houston, 2800 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056, United States and reporting to both the Energy Team and the Head of Mission in Houston.
•    Preferred starting date is October 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
•    The position is full-time for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of extension. Standard working hours are 37 hours per week.
•    The Trade Council provides paid export advisory services and operates with KPIs related to activity levels and value creation.
