If so, this is a unique opportunity to join the Trade Council at the Consulate General of Denmark in Houston as our new Commercial Advisor for Wind Energy.

Type of employment: Full time employment for 3 years on a local contract

Based in Houston - the energy capital of the world - you will become part of a highly ambitious team working at the forefront of the energy transition. In close collaboration with leading Danish companies, North American stakeholders, investors, public authorities and industry partners, you will help strengthen Denmark's position as a global leader in wind energy.

Your tasks will span strategic business development, public affairs, commercial advisory and investment promotion, while leveraging one of the strongest Danish energy networks in North America.

Main tasks and responsibilities 

  • Proactively engage with Danish wind energy companies and connect them with business opportunities across North America through market intelligence, stakeholder engagement and strategic project support.
  • Develop and present go-to-market strategies, growth plans and commercial business-development initiatives tailored to the North American wind energy sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the North American and Danish wind energy value chains, including developers, utilities, OEMs, suppliers, investors and public authorities.
  • Plan and execute high-profile events, business delegations, workshops and networking activities that create value for Danish companies and strengthen Denmark's presence in North America.
  • Contribute actively to the Trade Council's regional energy initiatives and collaborate closely with colleagues across North America.

To succeed in this role

  • You have a strong commercial mindset combined with solid technical and business insight into the wind energy sector.
  • You thrive on building trusted relationships with companies, investors, industry organizations and public authorities, and know how to turn networks into business opportunities.
  • You have a solid understanding of the North American energy landscape, including policies, regulations and market developments relevant to wind energy sector.
  • You are an experienced project manager who enjoys coordinating complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • You work independently, take ownership and consistently deliver high-quality results, while contributing positively to a collaborative and international team environment.
  • You are driven by creating tangible commercial impact and motivated by helping companies establish partnerships, attract investments and grow internationally.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in engineering, business, economics, political science or another relevant discipline.
  •  At least 3–5 years of relevant professional experience within the wind energy sector.
  • Experience from business development, project development, strategic consulting, commercial advisory and/or sales.
  •  Excellent written and spoken English. Danish language skills are an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Strong commercial understanding and knowledge of the Danish and/or North American wind energy sector.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and establish trust with companies, authorities and other key stakeholders.

Employment conditions

  • You will be employed locally as Commercial Advisor at the Consulate General of Denmark in Houston, 2800 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056, USA and reporting to both the Energy Team and the Head of Mission in Houston.
  • Preferred starting date is October 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
  • The position is full-time for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of extension. Standard working hours are 37 hours per week.
  • The Trade Council provides paid export advisory services and operates with KPIs related to activity levels and value creation.
  • Employment will be governed by the Local Staff Rules applicable to Danish Missions in North America.
