The Position
The intern works at the intersection of US and Danish societal and cultural affairs to facilitate cultural exchange between Danish and American artists, cultural institutions, and other key stakeholders. The Culture Intern will assist the Head of Culture in their daily work and get an insider perspective on Denmark's cultural diplomacy. 

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Identifying opportunities for cultural exchange between Denmark and the US. 
• Advising on Danish arts and cultural collaborations across the US. 
• Assisting with various research tasks on cultural trends and societal developments. 
• Casework in connection with visiting programs, ministerial visits, and briefing documents. 
• Coordination and execution of meetings and events. 
• Responding to a broad range of inquiries regarding Danish arts, culture, and society.
• Updating various lists, records, and reports. 
• Work closely with other colleagues at the Consulate General, especially our communications and public diplomacy team. 

As part of the internship, the intern will be given the opportunity to independently pursue at least one big project, which is both academically relevant and applicable to the culture team’s overall work.  

The Candidate
For this position, students from the humanities, social sciences and creative fields (e.g. film, literature, music, theater, visual arts, design, culture studies) will be given priority consideration. Professional experience from the Danish cultural sector and/or international cultural exchange and communications field is an advantage.

Additional competencies include: 

• Understanding and interest in international political relations and the role of cultural diplomacy. 
• Strong analytical skills and a creative flair. 
• Understanding of Danish society and cultural value systems.
• Good interpersonal skills, personal initiative, and a propensity for team collaboration. 
• Strong writing skills along with fluency in English and Danish, both written and spoken.
