An internship position at Invest in Denmark offers hands-on experience with international investment promotion in two of Denmark’s most important and globally competitive sectors and will give you a deep understanding of the Danish Cleantech and Tech sectors.
Invest in Denmark is Denmark’s national investment promotion agency. From our office at the Consulate General in New York, we work to attract, retain, and develop foreign investments that strengthen Danish strongholds and create long-term growth through transfer of knowledge, capital, and jobs into Denmark.
Denmark has for many years been at the forefront of the green technological transition, and ensuring Danish competitiveness in a dynamic environment is increasingly a political priority. Denmark is equally recognized as one of Europe’s most digitalized and innovation driven economies.
Danish strongholds are built on close collaboration between companies, universities, research institutions, and public authorities Denmark, and helped by political regulation. With world-class research environments and advanced quantum and AI capabilities, Denmark provides ideal conditions to develop, pilot, and scale innovations across the tech and cleantech sectors.
Our role is to ensure that leading North American companies understand why Denmark is a strategic place to locate R&D, production, and innovation activities. As an intern, you will become part of this effort.
Your Role
You will support our team in identifying and engaging leading North American cleantech and tech companies considering establishment or expansion of activities in Denmark. This includes connecting companies with relevant Danish partners, advising on framework conditions such as talent availability and regulatory environments, and contributing to Denmark’s positioning as a competitive cleantech hub.
Your tasks will include:
- Engaging in the day-to-day operations of the Consulate General and contributing to its mission
- Conducting market analysis and identifying strategic opportunities between US and Canadian companies and the Danish cleantech ecosystems
- Mapping companies and sectors, and monitoring key market trends
- Preparing concise company briefs, market insights, and impactful strategic presentations
- Mapping stakeholders across industry, academia, clusters, and public authorities
- Supporting outreach and helping prepare high-level meetings with key partners
- Assisting in planning and executing events, delegations, and business visits in both the US, Canada, and Denmark
- Providing structured administrative support to daily team operations
The Candidate
We are looking for ambitious students with a strong academic background preferably within fields such as economics, international business, political science, international relations, energy, sustainability or technical background in cleantech. However, we encourage students from all educational backgrounds to apply. You are currently enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or master’s program.

- Are comfortable working with Excel and PowerPoint
- Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and spoken English and Danish
- Have an interest in innovation, climate tech and international business
- Show initiative and thrive in high-performing teams
Professional experience is an advantage, but not a requirement.
