As our Political & Economic Diplomacy Intern, you’ll work across the Consulate General and Innovation Centre Denmark in Silicon Valley contributing wherever the need is greatest. One week you might be supporting a trade delegation; the next, helping deliver on a communication strategy or diving into economic analysis. You’ll get a broader view of how a diplomatic mission operates than almost any other role can offer.
You’ll be joining a team of around 35 dedicated colleagues spanning innovation, economic diplomacy, sustainability, and communications – all within a diplomatic setting. This role is deliberately cross-cutting: you’ll work where the need is greatest, get exposure to multiple areas of our work, and contribute meaningfully across the house.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Political and socio-economic monitoring, analyzing on Californian developments
- Support for events, ministerial visits, delegation visits, and networking meetings
- Help optimize internal workflows and services, including through AI tools and automation
- Hands-on communications tasks: photography, website updates, design in Canva, and similar
- Research and analysis to support strategic decisions and projects
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
- A role that doesn’t fit neatly into a box – and that’s the point. You’ll explore all parts of the organization and learn more than any traditional internship will give you
- Hands-on experience with business development in one of the world’s most innovative environments
- A chance to work closely with mission management
- The freedom to experiment with new tools, methods, and technologies
- A global network and a CV line you’ll have a great story to tell about
- Six months in California – walking the streets of San Francisco at night, exploring Yosemite during weekends, soaking up the energy, all of it
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’re curious, proactive, and thrive in environments where no two days look alike. You’re likely studying business, economics, communications, marketing, political science, or something similarly cross-disciplinary – and you maybe have ambitions of building an international career. Familiarity with consultancy work and tools like Canva, AI platforms, and website design is a plus. A structured working style, curiosity, and the ability to operate independently are requirements.
