On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rambøll has conducted an in-depth study of the market potential for Danish biosolutions providers on the US market.
This area of green potential is remarkable because of the broad applicability of existing and new solutions across the food and agricultural sectors. Denmark is particularly strong in this area with both private and public institutions focused on innovative solutions.
Rambøll’s report found that “The U.S. plant-based food market is expected to grow nearly seven-folded, to ~47 billion USD between 2020 and 2035, with an average growth rate of ~13% each year.” These findings are promising, given that the plant-based food category is a strong market indicator, even if it is not exhaustive of applications of biosolutions. Plant-based foods are in many cases produced with facilitation of biosolutions and can therefore be indicative of market trends.
As outlined by the government’s Green Initiative Action Plan of 2021, it is a key priority for the Trade Council in North America to support Danish stakeholders’ in the growing market, as well as to promote the Danish biosolutions-hub in the U.S. by facilitating public, private, and academic collaboration.
